We love working with clients in our local community so you can imagine our excitement when Stellar was selected by the Port of Long Beach (POLB) to redesign the Port’s iconic brand. POLB’s previous brand and logo, developed over a decade ago, had served the organization well and helped to solidify its leadership position in the shipping industry as the world’s premiere “Green Port.”

Starting with stakeholder interviews and an all-hands employee survey, the Stellar team worked closely with all levels of the Port’s organization to understand how the brand has changed in the last 10 years and how it will need to evolve in the coming decade. Nearly a hundred conceptual logo designs were initially developed, and that field of contenders was whittled down to a final 3 over the course of several rounds of review and refinement.

Stellar presented the final logos to the Port’s Harbor Commission in a televised, public forum hearing in late January. The Harbor Commissioners made the final logo selection and the new mark was presented at the Port’s annual “State of the Port” meeting earlier this year.

Look for the Port’s new logo to appear on everything from employee badges and marketing materials to shipping containers and Port vehicles and vessels.
